How did you get into the sport / join Havering Tri?

Around 2013-2014, I was going on bike rides with a then HTC member.

I was just a cyclist back then, but listening to triathletes talk really got me interested so I decided to join HTC and give swimming and running a go.

What’s the best thing about being a member of HTC?

When I was a newbie it was very inspiring and the encouragement and support was and still is fantastic.

Most memorable race you have competed in?

Ironman Lanzarote 2016, my first Ironman and being able to cross the finishing line with my then 16 year old daughter to the words from the commentator ‘you are an Ironman’ with the whole club who had finished their race already and those supporting, cheering me on. Just an amazing moment.

Your most embarrassing or funniest moment triathlon related?

Errr … Clacton triathlon 2019, standard distance club championships. Forgot my cycling helmet. Fortunately a race volunteer took pity on me and lent me her helmet. Make a list and double check everything!

What’s the best advice that you would give to a new member of HTC?

Enjoy the journey, there will be ups and downs.

Don’t dwell on the lows but enjoy all the highs
